Pedro Barahona

Pedro Barahona is (since October 2006) Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon, where he was Head of Department from 1999 to 2006. He got a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering in 1977 by the Technical University of Lisbon, an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, in 1984 and 1987 respectively, by the University of Manchester, UK. He got and Agregação degree in Computer Science (“Habilitation”) by the New University of Lisbon in 2002. His main research interest lies in the topic of Constraint Programming and, together with other Artificial Intelligence techniques to applications in Bioinformatics and Medicine, areas where he has been publishing regularly, collaborated in various national and international projects (often in a coordinating role), supervised a number of post-graduate students, and organised or collaborated in the organisation of several Scientific events.
